Xcel: Sunday power outage a mystery

An Xcel Energy official said crews do not know why some 2,800 customers in Grand Junction and parts of Clifton were without power for more than two hours on Sunday.

“We don’t have a cause,” said Mark Stutz, Xcel spokesman.

Power was fully restored as of 1:30 p.m., while Stutz said he didn’t know the boundaries of the outage which started at 11:07 a.m.

Several businesses in the 2800 block of North Avenue closed after reporting they lost power around 11 a.m., before opening again around 12:30 p.m. Traffic signals along the same block were reportedly down for about an hour.
