16th Dark Show to be downtown Saturday

Explore the realms of the dark and mysterious at the 16th annual Dark Show reception and costume ball from 7 p.m. to midnight Saturday, Oct. 27, at Planet Earth & the 4 Directions Gallery, 524 Colorado Ave.

The Dark Show is an exhibit dedicated to the dark featuring artwork that asks, “what does dark mean to you as an artist?” according to a news release.

The exhibit “depicts the realm of the mystery ... the unknown, deep spirituality, sexuality, waters and emotions that run deep — sadness, sorrow, grief, loss, longing, anger, rage — secrets ... the hidden, the forbidden.”

Costumes are encouraged at the reception and ball.

An altar will be created much like a Mexican Day of the Dead shrine. Bring photos of loved ones who have passed on or poems and art as offerings to their spirits and the spirits that have gone before.

A suggest donation of $8 at the door will be accepted.

The art exhibit will be on display through Nov. 10.
