4 new art exhibits open on First Friday
Four new exhibits will open during the First Friday art reception on Friday, Oct. 5, at The Art Center, 1803 N. Seventh St.
The evening will begin with the annual members meeting at 5:30 followed by artist introductions at 6:30 and the reception from 7–9 p.m.
These are the opening exhibits:
■ “Fired Up!” the 10th annual Junction Clay Arts Guild Exhibition, will be on display through Nov. 10. It features a wide variety of styles and techniques of function works, sculpture, pottery and fine art.
■ The Brush and Palette Club’s 65th annual Member’s Art Exhibit will be on display through Nov. 10. The show is juried by Vera Mulder and showcases two-dimensional works created by Brush and Palette members of all abilities.
■ “Expressive Landscapes” by Art Blom will be on display through Nov. 10. It features landscape oil paintings of nontraditional objectivity and technique.
■ The 17th annual Bonsai Exhibit will be on display through Oct. 12 with a selection of beautiful cultivated trees in the Japanese garden at The Art Center.

Also happening in the Grand Valley art scene is the Visual Arts Guild’s 21st annual Art Exhibition and Sale, featuring fine arts and photography, will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Oct. 5–6, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, at Camelot Gardens, 16612 U.S. Highway 550, in Montrose.
