Area poker runs keep wheels rolling
Hot rod and motorcycle owners can keep to the road with a couple upcoming fundraiser poker runs.
■ A poker run to benefit Hilltop’s Latimer House will happen Saturday, July 27, featuring a tour of Grand Mesa and ending in Palisade.
The Peach Valley Bar-Brew-Still Hot Rods and Wheels Poker Run and Funfest will offer poker runs for street rods/hot rods — old and new — and a poker run for motorcycles.
The poker run for the motorcycles will start at 9 a.m. at Grand Junction Harley-Davidson, 2747 Crossroads Blvd., and the street rod/hot rod event will get under way with registration at 10 a.m. at Allen Unique Autos, 2285 River Road.
The Funfest will include a car show in Palisade, with registration beginning at 8 a.m. at the Palisade Livery Saloon. The entry fee will include a barbecue at the end of the poker run. All those participating in the poker runs and car show can attend the barbecue at no cost.
There will be live entertainment at the end of the poker runs along with the barbecue, a dunk tank and a jump house.
All ages are invited to attend.

The run will feature five stops — the Elks Lodge, The End Zone in Fruita, Alexander Lodge on Grand Mesa, Delta Elks Lodge in Delta and back at the Elks Lodge in Grand Junction. Participants must check in by 4 p.m.
Live music with Goodman Band will begin at 5 p.m. Proceeds from the fundraiser will go to the Elks Hoop Shoot (annual youth basketball competition), scholarships for high school seniors and local Little League.
