Art Center hosts 14th annual auction

■ The opening reception for “Eden” will go from 6–10 p.m. Friday, May 4, at the Raw Canvas Tattoo Studio and Art Gallery, 507 Main St.

“Eden” features work from 18 artists. The evening also is a celebration of the four-year anniversary of the tattoo studio and two years for the art gallery.

There will be live music from the Denver duo Magpie, plus wine from Grande River Vineyards and appetizers from Bin 707 Foodbar.

■ Artspace Open Studios will have a preview party and reception for its upcoming Open Studios Tour. The reception will go from 5:30–8 p.m. Friday, May 4, at Buzztown, 441 Main St. Artists and artwork for the tour will be there as well as refreshments by Nick ‘n’ Willy’s and free tour maps. ■ A variety of art, sculpture, jewelry, pottery, collage, clothing and more from five artists will be featured in the Spring Boutique from 10 a.m to 8 p.m. Friday, May 4, and from 10 a.m.–4 p.m. Saturday, May 5, at 653 N. Terrace Drive, on the Redlands. Call 241-1383 for information.

■ The Colorado Mesa University semi-annual Student Art Sale will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, May 7–9, outside the east entrance to the Fine Arts Building.

The sale is free and features pottery and art made by students. Proceeds from the sale go to the students with a portion donated to the Student Art Club.



Fine art will be awarded to the highest bidders at the 14th annual Art Center Fine Art Auction on Friday, May 4, at The Art Center, 1803 N. Seventh.

The event, which is The Art Center’s biggest fundraising event and supports art education and exhibitions, will begin with an opening reception, silent auctions and meet-the-artist event from 5–7 p.m. with music in the sculpture garden by violinist Shawnee Videlock.

The live auction, featuring works in a variety of mediums, will be at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at The Art Center front desk or by phone at 243-7337, ext. 2.

A fee of 10 percent will be added to art purchases made by nonmembers of The Art Center. A basic membership to the center is $25–50.
