Aspen Dance Connection’s annual concert enters its 34th year at university

MATTHEW LINDSTROM, FORMER dance professor at Colorado Mesa University and currently a teacher at Interlochen Academy of Performing Arts in Michigan, choreographed this piece performed by dancer Laura Bradley. Lindstrom’s choreography will be featured in the Aspen Dance Connection’s Colorado Choreographers Showcase at Colorado Mesa University.



The Aspen Dance Connection will present the Colorado Choreographers Showcase, with two performances featuring a number of area choreographers and dance films, at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Jan. 13e_SEnD14.

The juried dance concert, which is in its 34th year, will be in Robinson Theatre at Colorado Mesa University’s Moss Performing Arts Center, 11231 N. 12th St.

There will be contemporary dancers from Boulder, Fort Collins, Denver and Grand Junction as well as films from the Sans Souci Festival of Dance Cinema, which was started in Boulder. Films by Ana Baer-Carrillo, Mary Wohl Haan, Leslie Merrill and Kim Olson will be shown.

Tickets to the showcase cost $20 for adults and $10 for students.

In conjunction with the showcase, modern dance and hip-hop master classes will be open to dancers of all ages and abilities on Saturday in the CMU Dance Studio in the Moss Performing Arts Center. Cost is $16 per class or $25 for both classes and includes a ticket to the showcase.
