‘Blockbusters!’ showcases college percussion ensemble
Some of the greatest masterpieces for percussion and madrigals “olde” and “new” will be performed during two different concerts coming up at Mesa State College.
“Blockbusters!” by the Mesa State College Percussion Ensemble will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 2, in the Recital Hall of the Moss Performing Arts Center. On the program are “Toccata” by Carlos Chavez, “Ku-ka-ilimoku” by Christopher Rouse, “Fanfare: Beijing 1989” by David Jarvis and “Japanese Overture” by Ney Rosauro.
The Mesa State College Opera Scenes and Chamber Choir will give voice to a “Madrigal Evening” at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, April 6–7.
Jack Delmore and Monte Atkinson will direct the concert fully-staged and choreographed in Medieval and Renaissance style. “Olde” Italian and English madrigals and 20th century music based on “olde” texts and/or in madrigal style are on the program.
Each concert costs $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and $5 for students.
