Driver ignores officers

A man was arrested early Sunday morning on suspicion that he eluded officers who were trying to stop him for a traffic violation. Vehicular eluding is a felony.

Rusty Michael Largent, 22, homeless, was arrested in the 1100 block of North 19th Street. He also was booked on suspicion of   reckless driving and driving with a canceled license.

Man reports gun threats

Grand Junction police are investigating a report that someone pointed a gun at a 20-year-old man on two separate occasions early Sunday morning.

The man told officers someone pointed a gun at him in the 1900 block of Elm Avenue and in the 1600 block of North 23rd Street.

Police said Sunday the man didn’t know who the gunman was.

According to the Grand Junction Police Department:

Mary Shortess, 68, address unavailable, was issued a summons Saturday on suspicion of stealing merchandise valued at less than $500 from Safeway, 2901 Patterson Road.

Judith Martens, 63, address unavailable, was issued a summons Saturday on suspicion of stealing merchandise valued at less than $100 from City Market, 2770 U.S. Highway 50.

Police received a report Saturday that a vandal damaged a vehicle parked in the 700 block of Horizon Drive. The vehicle’s rear license plate also was stolen.

Police received a report Friday that a thief entered a home in the 600 block of North 22nd Street and stole an item valued at more than $1,000.

Police received a report Thursday that a thief entered a home in the 500 block of 25 1/2 Road and stole items valued at less than $1,000.

According to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Department:

Deputies responded to a home in the 400 block of Sunrise Drive on Saturday after the Grand Junction Fire Department reported that a man had been burning the plastic off of electrical cords in his backyard and had retreated to his home. Deputies advised the man not to burn wires in his backyard.

A man living in the 2900 block of Kennedy Avenue reported Saturday that a thief entered his vehicle and stole an item valued at $250.

A woman living in the 2900 block of Parkway Drive reported Saturday that a thief stole her cell phone while she was having a yard sale. The phone was valued at $50.

A man living in the 2900 block of Orchard Avenue reported Saturday that a thief stole a laptop computer from his apartment.
