Mall site of children’s book giveaway

Books collected through the Colorado Business Reads effort will be given away to local children from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Clock Court in Mesa Mall.

There also will be a story time at 11:30 a.m. that day in the children’s play area.

Donated books have been collected at a number of area business locations in this local effort spearheaded by United Way of Mesa County.

Mystery writing topic of workshop

Author and teacher Lyn Fraser is set to lead an upcoming writing workshop titled “Weaving a Mystery from Real Life Threads.”

This free workshop will go from 5:30–7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Mesa County Libraries’ Central Library at Fifth Street and Grand Avenue. Register for the workshop at

Fraser is the author of the mystery novel “Debits and Credits,” two books on the Psalms and other fiction stories as well as an academic textbook.

Booksigning features ‘Legends’ book


Learn more about the Legends Historical Sculpture Project through an upcoming event and book.

A booksigning for “The Legends Behind the Legends of the Grand Valley — A Walking Tour of History,” written and compiled by Priscilla Mangnall and Kenneth Johnson, will go from 1:30–3 p.m. Saturday at Grand Valley Books, 350 Main St.

The book details “how a casual comment led to such an enduring community legacy” in the Legends project.

Authors’ Affair planned in Montrose


The Montrose County Historical Society is sponsoring an Authors’ Affair from 1–4 p.m. Saturday at the Centennial Room off of Centennial Plaza, 422 S. First St., in Montrose.

Local and regional authors will showcase their books. There will be fiction and nonfiction as well as poetry.
