Out West Books will host a book-signing for a memoir about a Colorado woman who rode a donkey across the state.

“On My Ass: Riding the Midelife Crisis Trail” is a memoir by Lou Dean about her 2001 trip riding her donkey across Colorado to promote nonviolence in schools.

The book-signing for Dean will go from 5:30–7:30 p.m. Thursday at Out West Books, 522 Main St.

Dean, who lives north of Rangely, also is the author of “The Boys From The Bushes” and other titles.

Ficklin, Lee featured 
at Off the Shelf event


The Off the Shelf series at Crystal Books and Gifts, 439 Main St., will host Sherry Ficklin and Catrina Lee from 6–8 p.m. Thursday.

Ficklin will present a talk titled “The Rise of the Hybrid Author” at 6:15 p.m.

Ficklin’s books are “Extracted” and “Losing Logan” and “Queen of Somebody.”

Lee’s presentation, “Sharing the story of how her poster came to life with the help of her fairy muses ...,” will be at 7 p.m.
