At Off the Shelf:

Native American theme

Writers John Nizalowski and Sally Crum will be featured at the next Off the Shelf Author Series event at Crystal Books and Gifts.

The event will be from 6–7 p.m. Thursday at the store at 439 Main St.

Nizalowski has published a collection of essays titled “Land of the Cinnamon Sun,” a multi-genre book titled “Hooking the Sun,” and a poetry collection titled “The Last Matinée.”

He will talk about “the myths and legends” of the Hopi, Pueblo and Navajo peoples and read excerpts from his books, according to a news release.

Crum is the author of “The Night the Stars Fell,” “Race to the Moonrise: An Ancient Journey,” “Race to the River: The Ancient Journey Continues” and “People of the Red Earth.”

During this event, Crum “will present a hands-on exploration about the region’s original inhabitants’ culture — from prehistoric mammoth hunters to the historic Ute tribes,” a news release said.

Seating for this event is limited. For information about this Off the Shelf event, go to crystalbooksandgifts.com or call 242-5181.
