‘Threads West’ author at

book-signing Wednesday

Reid Lance Rosenthal, author of the “Threads West” series, will be signing his books from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Barnes & Noble Booksellers, 2451 Patterson Road.

State poet nominations sought

Nominations are being accepted for the position of Colorado poet laureate, which promotes an appreciation of poetry in Colorado and honors outstanding Colorado poets.

The poet laureate will serve as an active advocate for poetry, literacy and literature by participating in readings and other events at schools, libraries, literary festivals and the State Capitol, and will provide the governor with an annual account of the impact and success of the Colorado Poet Laureate program.

The selection is based on artistic excellence, a demonstrated history of community service in the advancement of poetry and the ability to present poetry effectively. A review panel will review nominations and make recommendations to the governor, who will make the final selection. The poet laureate will serve a four-year term beginning in October 2014.

The Colorado poet laureate must pass a standard background check and must be a legal, full-time Colorado resident for at least three years prior to the nomination deadline, remaining a resident of Colorado during the term of office.

Nominations can be submitted at or by mail to Colorado Humanities & Center for the Book, 7935 East Prentice Ave., Suite 450, Greenwood Village 80111, Attention: Poet Laureate.

Deadline for entries is Feb. 3.
