Writers’ forum to host GJ poet
The Western Colorado Writers’ Forum will host a writing workshop and reading with Grand Junction poet and painter Wendy Videlock, who recently released her third book, “The Dark Gnu.”
“The Dark Gnu” is an illustrated children’s book of verse and was issued by Able Muse Press.
Videlock will give a reading from “The Dark Gnu” at 4 p.m. Saturday in the Main Street Room at Spring Hill Suites, 236 Main St.
Admission is $5 for adults and free for children. Children wearing “any type of critter headband or hat will receive a prize,” said a news release from the forum.
After the reading there will be a question and answer session, refreshments and book-signing.
Tickets for the reading are available at Spring Hill Suites.
The writing workshop with Videlock, titled “What the Light will Guess and the Dark Knows,” will be from 1:30–3:30 p.m. Saturday in the Main Street Room.
Writers will “explore the many arresting rhythms, images, angels, daemons and archetypes which tug at our subconscious and invariably emerge in the name of childhood, dream, art, and poetry,” according to Videlock and stated in the news release.
The workshop costs $50 — $45 for forum members — and includes admission to the reading. The workshop is limited to 35 individuals. Tickets for the workshop may be purchased at Crystals Books and Gifts, by mail or through http://www.westerncoloradowriters.org/events-classes/.
