Economy prompts novel by local author

Sue Hughey, author of the new novel “A Nest Egg Poached” under the name S.C. Strange, will be signing copies of her book from 2–4 p.m. Saturday at Turn the Page Used Bookstore, 119 E. Aspen Ave., in Fruita.

The economic downturn was the inspiration for “A Nest Egg Poached,” according to a news release from the author.

The novel follows the Goods, a retired couple who find themselves penniless after their financial adviser embezzles their life savings. The Goods decide to track down that “adviser,” which results in all kinds of adventures.

“In her story, the author wanted to impress how much a good attitude, humor and a lust for life can overcome adversity,” the news release says.
