Literary festival announces speakers
The Aspen Writers’ Foundation has announced its lineup of speakers for Aspen Summer Words set for June 16–21.
The “literary riches of China” is the theme for the 2013 literary festival, according to aspenwriters.org.
Here are the names of the speakers and smome of their books:
■ Deborah Fallows — “Dreaming in Chinese: Mandarin Lessons in Life, Love, and Language.”
■ James Fallows — “China Airborne.”
■ Yiyun Li — “The Vagrants.”
■ Lisa See — “Dreams of Joy”; “Shanghai Girls.”
■ Sandra Tsing Loh — “Mother on Fire.”

Enter library’s April poetry contest
Mesa County Libraries is celebrating April as National Poetry Month with a poetry contest.
Library cardholders ages 18 and older may submit original, unpublished poems to the contest at mesacountylibraries.org/poetry-contest/.
The entry deadline is 6 p.m. April 20.
Luis Lopez, local poet and former Colorado Mesa University professor, will judge the poetry.
The top three entries will receive gift certificates that can be used in downtown Grand Junction.

Author raft trip spots available
Spots are still available for a four-day, three-night raft trip down the San Juan River with author Pam Houston (“Contents May Have Shifted” and “Cowboys Are My Weakness”).
Organized by the Western Colorado Writers Forum, the trip is set for May 31 through June 3. Cost is $775 and is all inclusive. To hold your place for the trip, a $250 deposit is required with the balance due by the end April.

Book-signing set for local authors
A book-signing is planned for local authors Carroll Multz and Judith Blevins from 1–3 p.m. Saturday at Four Winds Coffee and Tea, 1235 Bookcliff Ave.
Multz will sign his three legal thrillers “Justice Denied,” “Deadly Deception” and “License to Convict.”
Blevins will sign her novel “Double Jeopardy.”
