‘Savior’s Guardian’ book-signing set
Mike Finton, author of “The Savior’s Guardian,” will be signing copies of his book from 3–5 p.m. Saturday at Hastings, 2401 North Ave.
“The Savior’s Guardian” follows a soldier, Ashra, assigned to protect a counselor in the Middle East during the time period of Christ’s life.
“In the moment when all appears lost, (Ashra) ultimately discovers a new beginning and the realization that he truly is the guardian of the King of Kings,” a description of the book says.
Four poets featured at gallery
Local poets will be featured in the Poets and Writers of Colorado Mesa University Reading Series event set for 7 p.m. Thursday at Planet Earth & the 4 Directions Gallery, 524 Colorado Ave.
The poets are Maureen McCarney, Luis Lopez, John Nizalowski and Luis Silva-Villar.
2013 One Book events planned
“Hig’s Comforts: Nature, Fishing and a Loyal Dog” is the title of Mesa County Libraries next presentation in the line-up of events for the 2013 One Book, One Mesa County reading program highlighting “The Dog Stars” by Peter Heller.
The program will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Central Library and feature Bill Haggerty, local hiking guide author and columnist for The Daily Sentinel; Teri Thomas, owner of dog-training and behavior service Angels in the Making LLC; and Lew Evans, with the Grand Valley Anglers.
Other upcoming One Book events include:
■ 1:30 p.m. today at the Central Library the Movie Series continues with “Seeking a Friend for the End of the World” starring Steve Carroll and Keira Knightley.
■ 6:30 p.m. Thursday Central Library, a book discussion.

■ 11 a.m. Saturday De Beque Branch, a book discussion.
