Barn dance celebrates Grand Valley agriculture

Kick up your heels at the first ever Colorado Environmental Coalition Barn Dance in Palisade on Friday, Nov. 14, to celebrate local agriculture.

Starting at 6:30 p.m. in the Palisade Produce fruit packing shed at 753 37 8/10 Road, enjoy refreshments such as root beer and ales from the Palisade Brewery, food and dancing.

Playing live is Simmer Down, a local Americana/bluegrass band. According to the band’s Web site,, the trio has opened for artists such as John Prine, The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and
John Cowan. Simmer Down also performs a mixture of folk, country rock and blues.

The coalition’s statewide goal is to unite Coloradans and “protect our natural heritage and quality of life” through volunteer work, education and legislation.

Tickets to the Barn Dance cost $10, children under 12 get in for free.
