40-plus bands to be in Desert Rocks festival

More than 40 bands and performers will converge to rock the red rock canyon country in southern Utah during Memorial Day weekend.

Desert Rocks is Friday through Sunday, May 22–24, south of Moab.

The music festival includes performances, a light show, vendors, a beer garden, aerial ballet, free yoga and tai chi instruction, workshops, spoken word, fire and belly dancing, an eco-conscious fashion show, live art exhibits, a kids play zone and more.

The event encourages environmental sustainability — leave no trace.

The 2009 festival music lineup includes David Gans from “The Grateful Dead Hour,” hip-hop act Tha Alkaholiks, String Cheese legend Bill Nershi playing with Head for the Hills, Nathan Moore of Surprise Me Mr. David and The Slip, The Motet Tribute to Herbie Hancock, LionVibes, The Band of Annuals, Nicki Bluhm and the Gramblers, Spearit, Equal Eyes, Bryon Freidman, Gigi Love and the Hearts of Gold and The Williams Brothers Band.
