Classic rock show coming to Avalon
Back in the spotlight, back-to-Boston basics: former Boston lead singer Fran Cosmo and a backing band bring classic rock hits to the Avalon Theatre on Saturday, April 4.
Cosmo performed and recorded music with Boston, a band originally formed in the ’70s, from 1993 to 2004. His current Boston tribute show is called Best of Boston and features songs such as “Walk On,” “Livin’ for You,” “Foreplay/Long Time” and more.
The backing band includes other former Boston recording members: Anthony Cosmo, guitar and backing vocals; Bill Carman, bass and backing vocals; and Tom Moonan, drums.
Gary Johnson, keyboard, guitar and backing vocals and Mick Brooks, guitar and backing vocalsm, also perform in the Best of Boston show.
Cosmo also is a member of a band named Cosmo, and he is working to build his solo career. A CD is forthcoming on Frontier Records.
Proceeds from the Best of Boston show benefit United Way of Mesa County.
“The money raised from this concert will go towards helping fund the record 61 agencies that have applied for funding this year,” Julie Hinkson, United Way executive director, said in a news release. “This will be a fun and different way for us to bring in more funds for those programs.”
