'Guys and Dolls’ on for 2 weekends at the Avalon Theatre

The premiere production of Grand Junction’s newest theater company, Upstage Shows, opens for two weekends with a local version of the Tony Award-winning musical “Guys and Dolls.”
Shows are Fridays and Saturdays, Feb. 27–28 and March 6–7, at the Avalon Theatre.

The cast is all local with familiar actors such as Dave Allgood, Ben Dial, Arn McConnell and Charles King.

Colorful characters, a love story, gamblers, gals and con men fill the famous musical’s plot with popular tunes such as “Fugue for Tinhorns,” “Luck Be A Lady” and “Sit Down, You’re Rocking the Boat.”

To keep a gambling ring going, character Nathan Detroit must secure $1,000. He makes a bet with a high rolling gambler who he thinks he can’t lose. But love is a tricky thing to gamble with.

“Guys and Dolls” is directed and produced by Kirk McConnell, former executive producer of The Cabaret Dinner Theatre.
