'Hats! The Musical’ community theater production honors Red Hat Society
Grand Valley Community Theatre will celebrate the women of the Red Hat Society with a production of “Hats! The Musical.”
The musical’s story line follows a woman named Mary Ann who is about to turn 50 and is dreading it, said Amy Graebner, with the theater group.
Through the musical, women tell their stories about how they embraced the transitions in life and womanhood. It’s “done in a fun and tender way,” Graebner said.
There are plenty of humorous and poignant moments. “It’s definitely a ladies show,” she said.
The musical will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, Feb. 12–14 and Feb. 19–21 at the Showtime Studio Theatre, 2148 Broadway.
There will be several dinner theatre productions catered by Garfield’s restaurant. Those performances will be on Friday, Feb. 13 and Feb. 20. Dinner is served at 6:30 p.m. and the show is at 7:30 p.m. Reservations are required for the dinner theater.
Tickets are $15 for adults and $13 for seniors and students. Dinner theater tickets are $25.
The musical is made possible in part by a grant from Grand Junction Commission on Arts and Culture and the Alma Richardson Foundation.
