Guest violinist, symphony orchestra plan an evening of romantic music

Grammy-award winning violinist and composer Mark O’Conner will join the Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra for a Valentine’s Day evening of romantic classical music.

The concert is at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, in the Grand Junction High School auditorium, 1400 N. Fifth St.

O’Connor is recognized as one of the most gifted contemporary composers in America and
The New York Times calls his “one of the most spectacular journeys in recent American music.”

The concert will feature a performance of O’Conner’s “Americana Symphony,” which is set as a theme and variations of one of his most famous pieces, “Appalachia Waltz.”

The concert also will include four dance selections from Aaron Copland’s “Rodeo,” as well as O’Connor’s “Fiddle Concerto.”
