Longtime Mesa State college professor having final exhibit

A veteran Mesa State College art professor of 32 years is presenting his final Mesa State art exhibition from Friday, Oct. 24,  through Nov. 7 at the Johnson Art Gallery in the W.W. Campbell College Center.

Join professor and artist Laverne Mosher from 6–8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 24, for an opening night reception that is free and open to the public.

For the “Laverne Mosher’s Farewell Exhibition: It’s Functional — Live With It Show,” Mosher is presents thrown and hand built pottery using stoneware and porcelain clay.

Mosher’s artwork is inspired by ancient Greek pottery, according to a college news release. Lately, Mosher’s been especially interested in nipple pots and the works of David Shaner and Toshiko Takaezu.

Mosher plans to retire from teaching at the end of the 2008–2009 academic year and will open Mosher Pottery in Orchard Mesa, according to the news release.
