Poet Robert Burns’ 250th birthday to be celebrated

Celebrate the 250th birthday of Scottish poet Robert Burns with dinner, dancing and live music.

The birthday party begins at 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 14, at Country Inns of America, 718 Horizon Drive.

Burns is best known for writing the lyrics to “Auld Lang Syne” and “My Love is Like a Red, Red Rose.”

His heritage will be celebrated with Scottish dancing by the Colorado West Celtic Dancers and music by Old School, a band with Irish bagpipes. And don’t forget to polish and scrub your knees for the Bonny Knees contest.

The dinner menu includes haggis, roast beef, salmon and “neeps and tatties” (turnips and potatoes). Cost is $30 and reservations are required.
