Briefs: OA Weekly Suggestion September 12, 2008

Here’s another film for music lovers.

A while back I suggested “Dan in Real Life” because Sondre Lerche crafted the entire soundtrack. Well, I recently rented “The Go-Getter,” which has an original soundtrack by singer/songwriter M. Ward, and I just love what he came up with.

“The Go-Getter” (2007) is part romantic comedy, part drama and part road trip movie. After the main character’s mother dies, he goes on a road trip to try to find his half brother. To get there, he steals a car from the very lovely Zooey Deschanel.

Deschanel and M. Ward met on the set of the film and in 2006 recorded a duet together. This year, the delightful team released an album under the name “She & Him” and made a big splash at the 2008 South by Southwest.

I suggest renting “The Go-Getter” to hear the beginning of a great musical friendship.
