Final round of Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra’s Young Artists Competition on Sunday
Some of the finest young pianists under the age of 25 will battle it out at the final round of the Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra’s annual Young Artists Competition on Sunday, March 15, at 2 p.m.
The public is invited to attend the competition at the Moss Performing Arts Center on the Mesa State College campus.
The winner of the competition will receive not only a cash prize but also the opportunity to perform with the symphony at a concert during the upcoming season.
John Ahern, a sophomore in high school, studies piano with faculty members at Mesa State College. He will perform Rachmaninoff’s Rhapsody on a Theme by Paganini, Op. 43.
Norman Anderson has played the piano for more than 19 years and studies at University of Colorado at Boulder. He will perform Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 4.
Brandon Lee, studying at Utah State University is in his senior year, majoring in piano performance. He will play Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1.
Grace Lee began piano lessons at the age of four and has since continued her studies at University of Colorado at Boulder. She will perform Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 23.
A winner will be announced immediately following the final competition.
