‘Bright Ideas’ dark comedy coming to Colorado Mesa

A dark comedy takes the stage in the form of “Bright Ideas” Colorado Mesa University begins its 2017–18 theatre and dance season.

The student-directed drama, written by American playwright Eric Coble, will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, Sept. 14–16, in the Mesa Experimental Theatre of the Moss Performing Arts Center, 1231 N. 12th St.

Senior acting/directing major Samantha Cage will direct.

“In this black comedy, a couple’s young son is next on the waiting list to get into a prestigious early childhood development program, a recipe for an easy life,” a news release said. “The couple is one high stakes dinner party away from parental success.”

The play is rated R for strong language. Tickets cost $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and $6 for students.

Tickets for “Bright Ideas” are available at coloradomesa.edu/mosstickets and at the Moss box office beginning 90 minutes before curtain time.
