Celebrate Record Store Day in GJ
Celebrate music with more than 700 independent record stores across the country, including Grand Junction’s Triple Play Records, during the seventh annual Record Store Day.
Triple Play, 530 Main St., will have free giveaways and a $2 sidewalk sale in addition to new inventory of special-order vinyl, CDs, seven-inch or 12-inch singles.
The event runs from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, April 19, and store owner Rock Cesario will have goodies for customers, as well.
“Think of it like a holiday for indy stores and their customers,” he said. “This is our chance to give back to our customers for 26 years of support.”
Triple Play has received albums from, among others, Dave Alvin, Broken Bells, Joan Baez, Jake Bugg, The Civil Wars, Jimmy Page, Paramore, Bruce Springsteen and Hank Williams.
The party will continue with the first ever Record Store Day After-Party at 9 p.m. at Barons, 539 Colorado Ave.
Local musicians Wave Baby, DJ Dusty Thunders, Willie DeFord and friends, plus Durango band The Nomads and Denver’s Moonlighter will perform.
Admission is $3 at the door.
