Cellist to perform free concert at CMU

SPECIAL TO THE SENTINEL DENNIS PARKER Cellist will play a free concert at Colorado Mesa University

With Colorado debuts and a program he will present at premieres in New York this year, cellist Dennis Parker will perform a free concert at Colorado Mesa University.

The “soloist, recitalist, collaborator and guest professor at universities and festivals” will be accompanied by pianist Lina Morita and will play at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, in the Recital Hall of the Moss Performing Arts Center at Colorado Mesa University, 1231 N. 12th St., according to a news release from the university.

Costs related to the concert are covered by a grant Parker received from the Louisiana Board of Regents ATLAS grant program, which also will allow Parker to produce three independent recording projects in 2013, the news release said.

The concert program includes compositions by composers Claude Debussy, Scott Eggert and Ivan Sokolov.

Call 248-1604 for information about this concert.
