Clarinet Day at college will close Feb. 19 with concert at recital hall

The annual Clarinet Day at Mesa State College will conclude with a concert at 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, in the Moss Performing Arts Center Recital Hall, 1231 N. 12th St.

Throughout the day, middle school, high school and college clarinetists will attend classes on technique and master classes for soloists.

The public is invited to attend the day’s final concert, which will feature Adam Ballif, Mesa State clarinet faculty member; guest artist Leslie Moreau, clarinet professor at Boise State University; and two clarinet choirs.

Moreau will perform a Bernstein Sonata and a new piece titled “Quantum Sonata” written by Jim Cockey.

Ballif plans to play “Double Life” composed by Eric Mandat. The piece requires Ballif to play two clarinets at the same time.

Tickets to the final concert are $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and $5 for students.
