CMU presents annual Fall for Dance showcase

New York City dancer, singer and actor Rachelle Rak will be a guest choreographer for Colorado Mesa University dance program’s Fall for Dance concerts.

Presented at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Nov. 22–23, at Robinson Theatre in the Moss Performing Arts Center, 1231 N. 12th St., Fall for Dance will showcase work from a number of local and guest choreographers and a variety of dance styles.

Rak, who also has been a CMU guest choreographer for the semester, was a judge for the second season of Lifetime Channel’s “Abby’s Ultimate Dance Competition.”

Her Broadway credits include “Cats,” “Oklahoma!” and “Catch Me If You Can,” and she was part of the film “Every Little Step,” according to a news release from the university.

CMU faculty members Melonie Buchanan Murray and Megan Glynn, as wells as adjunct instructors Abbi Phillips, Gabrielle Cahill and Connie Monroe, have choreographed dances for the program.

Student choreographers chosen to present work are Rochelle Kwasniewski, AJ Labrum, Allison Duncan and Antonio Hermosillo.

Guest artists Beyond Boundaries Dance Collective will perform a new work choreographed by Rebecca Fleishman.

Tickets for each Fall For Dance concert cost $12 for adults, $8 for seniors and $6 for students. Tickets can be purchased at the box office by calling 248-1604.
