CMU student art to be in 2 exhibits

Get a look at the creativity of Colorado Mesa University students by checking out two area exhibits.

The 2012 BFA Studio Art Candidates Show, the first of two shows displaying the work of studio art majors, will open Monday, March 26, at the University Center Art Gallery at CMU.

This exhibit will show oil paintings, mixed media works, prints and ceramics made by studio art majors Taylor Bisbee, Jacob Franck, Amy Kuper, Stephanie Nelson and Demi Pettway.

A public reception and opportunity to meet the artists will be from 6–8 p.m. Friday, March 30.

This exhibit will be up through Friday, April 13. The Art Gallery is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Admission is free.

The 36th annual Juried Colorado Mesa University All Campus Exhibit will run from Thursday, March 29, through Friday, April 13, in the North Gallery at The Art Center, 1803 Seventh St.

This exhibition features two- and three-dimensional art in various mediums created by university students of any major.

An opening reception for the show will be from 7–9 p.m. Friday, April 6, at The Art Center. From 6:30–7 p.m. that day, the jurors — Charles Hardy and Kyoung Hwa Oh — will speak about the exhibit.

The Art Center is open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Admission to the center is $3 for nonmembers and free for members.
