CMU dancers work with noted choreographer for ‘Fall for Dance’

Colorado Mesa University dancers recently spent an intensive weekend rehearsing with guest artist Ric Rose for a new work to be performed at the three “Fall for Dance” concerts on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 9-10, in Robinson Theatre at the university’s Moss Performing Arts Center.

Nationally renowned choreographer Ric Rose will be featured in the first of Colorado Mesa University’s dance program’s annual concerts, “Fall for Dance,” on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 9–10, in Robinson Theatre at the Moss Performing Arts Center, 1231 N. 12th St.

Rose is an associate professor of dance at the University of Florida where, according to a news release, his primary teaching focus is ballet and jazz.

Rose auditioned and worked with CMU dance majors over a long, intensive weekend to polish a new work for “Fall for Dance.”

The dance concert will feature a variety of styles — modern dance, tap pieces, ballet, jazz and hip-hop. Choreographers for the concert are students Taylor Young, Jennifer Madsen and Laura Stroman, university faculty members Matthew Lindstrom, Melonie Buchanan Murray, Connie Monroe and Kathleen Riskey, and Rebecca Fleishman of the Beyond Boundaries Dance Collective.

Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Saturday.

Tickets cost $12 for adults, $8 for seniors and $6 for students.
