Cruise to Avalon for barbershop tunes

“Cruisin’ the Night Away” is the theme for the Bookcliff Barbershop Harmony Chorus spring concerts, which will feature a guest quartet and an informance.

The Elements, which was the 2010 champions for the Rocky Mountain District of the Barbershop Harmony Society, according to a news release, will be the special guests at the concerts at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday, April 9, at Avalon Theatre, 645 Main St.

Along with music from the Bookcliff Barbershop Harmony Chorus, there will be performances from a local double quartet, from students in local middle school choruses and from Trifecta, a trio of local vocal music teachers.

At 11 a.m. Saturday, The Elements will offer an informance, an informational presentation. The group will perform and answer questions from the audience.

Tickets to the “Cruisin’ the Night Away” cost $15 for adults and $12 for seniors and students. Children age 6 and younger are free.
