Davis Gallery & Studio opens
Grand Valley artist Dave Davis is opening a gallery to showcase his work near the comfort of his own home.
The Davis Gallery & Studio grand opening will go from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, June 28, at 619 33 Road, in Clifton, where Davis converted his old studio space into a gallery.
He will use the gallery to showcase pieces dating back to 2012.
Davis estimates he has nearly 200 paintings and sculpture to display. He painted 145 pieces alone between Jan. 1 and April 18 of this year after returning from his second trip to Amsterdam on a retreat of sorts.
“I found so much floral beauty in Amsterdam and was so impressed with many wonderful floral painters I think it really inspired me to paint florals,” Davis said.
Davis, who is perhaps most famous for his nude and abstract paintings, said people only familiar with his work from previous shows may be surprised by his recent paintings.
“Because of my two trips (to Amsterdam), that has slowly changed my thoughts on what I enjoy painting,” he said.
After the grand opening, the Davis Gallery & Studio will be open by appointment only by calling 216-6102.
