Disc Golf Club donates to two charities in valley

The Grand Valley Disc Golf Club contributed $2,500 each to two Grand Valley charities.

The money, which was collected from entry fees in the annual Ice Bowl disc golf tourney and other fundraisers, was presented last week to Grand Valley Catholic Outreach’s soup kitchen and to the Kids’ Aid backpack program, according to Bill Alderman, a member of the club board.

The club’s Ice Bowl on Feb. 12 at Riverbend Park in Palisade attracted more than 70 players from across western Colorado.

Disc-golf associations conduct ice bowls every year to raise money for local charities, Alderman said.

“We usually try to give money for hunger and food,” he said.

The Grand Valley Disc Golf Club has raised more than $25,000 in the nine years it has been conducting Ice Bowl tournaments, he said.
