Dragon Unchained Festival and Faire makes changes

A new location and an expanded time line will greet visitors at the Dragon Unchained Festival and Faire.

Presented by Thunder Mountain Colorado Living History the event will go from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday through Sunday, April 25–27, and May 2–4.

This year’s festival will take place in Delta on a huge property at 1699 H38 Road. Signs on U.S. Highway 50 will direct travelers to the location.

This year, the festival also will be a Renaissance faire and organizers will honor all time lines from Iron Age Celts, through the Wild West, a news release said.

Visitors dressed in historical garb can receive a prize and there will be a number of merchandise and food vendors. See cannon and blacksmith demonstrations and participate in contests and activities for all ages. Try your hand at archery, javelins, knife and hatchet throwing, hand-to-hand combat and more.

Dancers, drummers, singers, puppeteers, jugglers and musicians will be among those entertaining visitors and there will be pony rides as well as an operational 1/3-scale trebuchet.

The event is free and camping passes are available.

I visited this faire site yesterday.  TMCLH’s new venue looks great!  It’s nestled on a beautiful City of Delta property right outside of town.  There is almost 90 degree mountain views and plenty of wild life including eagles feeding from the lake. There are vendors from as far as Utah and Colorado Springs.  It’s definitely a don’t miss event.
