Fruita hosts talent show

The city of Fruita will host a Night of Stars Talent Show on Friday, March 21, and is seeking talent to perform at the show.

Individuals and groups wanting to perform are invited to register with the city of Fruita Recreation Department.

The number of performances is limited to 20 acts and early registration is recommended. All acts must be approved by the talent show committee and should be no longer than three minutes. The event is open to all ages and talents.

Run, ‘Monologues’ planned at CMU

 

An Undies Run will be hosted by the Programming Activities Counsel of Colorado Mesa University in conjunction with the upcoming presentation of “The Vagina Monologues.”

The run will be from 5–7 p.m. Thursday, March 6, in the Elm Quad on campus.

The event will collect donations to benefit Hilltop’s Latimer House.

“The Vagina Monologues,” rated R, will be presented March 20–22 in CMU’s Mesa Experimental Theatre. Proceeds from the performances also will benefit Latimer House.

Artists called out for Spring Art Show in Delta

 

Delta Fine Arts has put out a call to artists and photographers for its Spring Art Show that will be on display May 2–4, at the Elk’s Lodge in Delta.

The show is open to all artists, photographers and students on the Western Slope. The nonjuried show will accept all two-dimensional art pieces and three-dimensional sculptures. All art will be shown at the discretion of the show committee.

The entry deadline is April 11.

North Gallery and Studios grand opening set

 

A grand opening event will take place from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 8, at +1 North Gallery and Studios, 1150 N. 25th St.

The featured photographer will be B.E. Butler and refreshments will be provided, including root beer from the Copper Club and food from Bin 707. Poetry readings will begin at 12:30 p.m. and guitarist Paul Jensen will perform from 1–4 p.m.

Fruita makes call for artists

 

A call for artists has been put out for the Fruita Community Center Art Exhibit for an exhibit that will be on display April through June.

Artists are asked to submit proposals no later than 4 p.m. March 10, to the Fruita Parks and Recreation Department, 324 N. Coulson St., in Fruita. The artist must consider the space desired in drafting the proposal. Proposals will be evaluated by the Fruita Arts and Culture Board and selections will be made at the March 12 Arts and Culture Board meeting.
