I Heart Heroes fundraiser begins

According to the fundraiser’s Facebook event page, for a $1 donation or more, you can add your name to a heart to show veterans how much you care about them and their sacrifices.

The hearts will displayed at the Veterans’ Art Center through February. The campaign was started by 12-year-old Macy Coulter and all proceeds benefit the Veterans’ Art Center/Operation Revamp.

The Red Mare

Rain slurries over the pasture

pelting the red horse.

She turns her backside to the wind

braces herself for the duration.

I take refuge in the barn.

The red mare could join me,

the door is open.

I want to offer her my umbrella

hold it over her head.

I could give her my yellow slicker

throw it around her shoulders.

She chooses to stand in the rain.

She accepts the rain.
