Art show awards, honors announced
Ninety-two artists entered a total of 256 individual works in the 45th annual Edge of the Cedars Art Show that took place earlier this month in Cedaredge.
A number of area artists received awards and honors in the professional, amateur and student categories. The mediums represented were oil/acrylic, watermedia, graphics, pastels, photography, sculpture, stained glass and open category.
Top judging awards were:
■ People’s Choice: Larry Dumler, Cedaredge, advanced oil/acrylic titled “Mamaa Simba Maacai Mara.”
■ Judge’s Best of Show: Marty Rathburn, Cedaredge, graphics titled “The Bell Dancer.”
■ Best of Professional, Rathburn, “The Bell Dancer.”
■ Best of Advanced: Dumler, oil/acrylic titled “Headed North — Sandhill Cranes.”
■ Best of Amateur: Luther McCracken, Montrose, oil/acrylic titled “Trouble on the Horizon.”
■ Best of Student: Amber Swain, Delta, graphics titled “Jack Frost.”
Country Jam announces 2018 headliner
The dust has barely settled from last weekend’s superstar-packed 26th annual Country Jam, and organizers have announced one of the headlining acts for the 2018 festival: Florida Georgia Line.
The 27th annual Country Jam will take place June 14–17. All 2017 VIP and reserved seat holders and campsite owners can renew their seats and sites through July 5 via their Country Jam account.
Nearly 92,000 fans attended this year’s festival featuring headliners ACM Entertainer of the Year Jason Aldean, ACM Male Vocalist of the Year Thomas Rhett and Kenny Chesney.
