Library book sale to begin

The Friends of the Mesa County Libraries Book Sale will be Monday through Saturday, Dec. 2–14, during regular hours, at the Central Library, 446 N. Sixth St.

The sale features a large variety of books, DVDs and music CDs. Most items are priced under $10. Gift certificates also are available to purchase for use at A Novel Idea Bookstore located in the Central Library.

Proceeds from the sale benefit Friends of the Mesa County Libraries, a nonprofit organization that has provided support for programs at Mesa County Libraries for almost 50 years.

Gardens offers holiday 
lighting experience

 

The Western Colorado Botanical Gardens will offer an evening Christmas lighting experience beginning Saturday, Nov. 30, at the Gardens, 641 Struthers Ave.

The lights will be on display from 5–8 p.m. Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays and from 5–9 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, beginning Saturday, Nov. 30, through Sunday, Dec. 22.

Admission is $5 for ages 8 and older. Santa Claus will be on site from 6–7 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Complimentary hot chocolate and cider will be available while you walk among the lights.

Dance studio posts December schedule

 

Treat yourself to a dance class at La Puerta Dance Studio, 523 1/2 Main St.

The December dance class schedule is posted at lapuertadancestudio.com. A variety of classes are offered. Open dancing is from 8–10 p.m. Fridays following the class that begins at 7:10 p.m.

Drawing Part 1 class set

 

Introduction to Drawing Part 1 taught by Sallie Wysocki will be offered from 2:30–4:30 p.m. or 5:30–7:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Jan. 7 through Feb. 11 at The Artist’s Haven, 240 North Ave.

Using Betty Edward’s “Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain” workbook, plus other reference materials, students will learn how to clear the junk out of their heads so they can draw, fit the pieces of drawing together and create something that is uniquely theirs. No particular style of drawing will be demonstrated.

Cost is $90 plus materials.

Color Creek plans classes

 

Color Creek Fiber Art, 1150 N. 25th St., will offer classes in December.

■ Intro to Batik: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, $45.

■ Intro to Silk Painting: 2–5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, $45.

■ For the Kid at Heart: 1–3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, $15, for all ages. Children younger than age 7 can bring in an adult for free and make ornaments for your Christmas tree

■ Open Lab: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14, $25 or punch card. For those who need the space to make their gifts for the holidays. Materials can be purchased or brought in.

■ For the Kid at Heart: 1–4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15, $35, for ages 9 and older. Felt your Christmas stocking from scratch.

Music Together classes planned beginning Dec. 2

 

Music Together classes will be offered beginning Monday, Dec. 2, in Palisade.

Instructor Brittany Dunn will offer classes at 10 a.m. or 1 p.m. on Mondays at Palisade United Methodist Church, at Fourth and Main streets in Palisade.
