Arts and crafts fairs set for weekend

The arts and crafts fair season is under way and here are a few taking place this weekend:

■ Autumn Celebrations Art and Craft Show will be at 3–7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday Oct. 15, at the Montrose County Fairgrounds, 1001 N. Second St., in Montrose. The event is free. There will be arts, crafts, gourmet foods, toys, home decor, a kids craft corner and more. Info: 275-6547.

■ African Team Ministries Craft and Jewelry sale will go from noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays, Oct. 15 and Oct. 22, and following church services on Sundays, Oct. 16 and Oct. 23, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Muller Hall, 145 W. Fifth St., in Delta. All proceeds go to the African Team Ministries and its effort to bring clean water to drought stricken areas of Africa. Info: 874-9489.

■ Annual Country Store and Craft Sale will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14, and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at Eckert Presbyterian Church, 13025 Colorado Highway 65, in Eckert. A soup lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday. Cost is $5 for soup, bread, beverage and dessert. A sandwich lunch will be served Saturday. Cost is $5 for a sloppy Joe sandwich, chips, beverage and dessert. Info: 835-8112, 874-3792.

Winefest Art Contest accepts entries

 

The Colorado Association for Viticulture & Enology has put out a call for entries for the 2017 Colorado Winefest Art Contest.

All 2D artists from Colorado are invited to submit artwork, including photography, for a chance to be selected as the 2017 Colorado Winefest poster artist.

Entries should represent the growing Colorado wine industry. Deadline to apply is Jan. 6.

The Blue Pig Gallery in Palisade will host an artists’ opening reception on Jan. 27 and the winning artwork will be selected by public vote at that time.

Interested artists should go to coloradowinefest.com for official rules, regulations and an application.

Studt’s hours go later for Halloween

 

Studt’s Pumpkin Patch and Corn Maze, 21 1/2 Road and I 1/2 Road, is now open until midnight on Friday and Saturday nights through October.

The location will be open until 1 a.m. Sunday and Monday, Oct. 30–31.

Dance to live music at senior center

 

The Senior Recreation Center, 550 Ouray Ave., hosts dancing to old time live music from 7:30–9:30 p.m. every Thursday.

Nonprofit sought as concessionaire

 

High Desert Opera is offering a fund-raising opportunity for local nonprofits to sell concessions during its Dec. 30–31 performances of “Guys and Dolls” at Robinson Theatre in the Moss Performing Arts Center at Colorado Mesa University.
