Local art quilters honored in shows
Local Art Quilt Association (AQuA) members will have quilts on display in California shows that follow the “Absolutely Artful!” theme.
Original art quilt pieces will hang in exhibits from Oct. 6–8 at Quiltfest Oasis in Palm Springs, California, and Oct. 13–16 at the 25th annual Pacific International Quilt Festival (PIQF) in Santa Clara, California. Artist Patty Hawkins of Estes Park juried the submissions.
Grand Junction artist Kathy Schattlietner was awarded the top two spots with her “Awfully Artful” and “Lone Tree” entries and Clifton artist Eldrid Schafer’s “Who You” placed third. Other awards in the top five were Susan Strickland’s “Black Loafers, White Socks” and “Heard it Through the Grapevine” by Nancy Dobson.
