Art program coming to Riverfront Trail
A new program is coming soon to the Colorado Riverfront Trail that is designed to transform underpasses along the trail into vibrant, colorful artistic expressions.
Art on the Riverfront Trail — aRT — is a fluid process of murals changing annually that will bring new and fresh designs to the trail. It is spearheaded by the Grand Junction Commission on Arts and Culture and the Riverfront Commission with a valley-wide coalition of partners. Five areas along the Colorado Riverfront Trail, with a combined total of 14 paintable locations, have been identified for murals.
“Through aRT, we will expand our rich artistic community and provide spaces to nurture budding artists by creating a more vibrant environment,” a news release said.
The program officially begins Saturday, Oct. 15. Applications and guidelines for artists interested in the vetted sites are available online at gjarts.org.
