Auditions set for upcoming play
Open auditions are set for Tuesday, Sept. 27, for the Youth Theatre Project’s production of “Disney’s Beauty and the Beast Jr.”
These auditions for ages 7–18 will be from 5:30–6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Creative Avenues, 835 N. 26th St.
Each youth needs to come with a completed audition information sheet, which can be downloaded at theatreprojectgj.com.
Children ages 5–7 who would like to participate in the play can register online to join the cast.
Most of the rehearsals will be on Tuesday evenings, with some cast having additional Saturday morning rehearsals. Cost is $45.
Performances and tech rehearsals will be Dec. 9–10 at Grand Junction High School auditorium.
Crafters sought for local events
‘Tis the season for craft fairs and organizations are putting out the call for crafters:
■ Hometown crafters of handmade items are encouraged to reserve booth space for the Central High School craft fair on Nov. 1. Proceeds will benefit the Central High School science department.
■ The First Church of the Nazarene is seeking craft vendors for its second Craft and Small Business Bazaar from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 12 at the church, 2802 Patterson Road. The booth fee is $45. Call Shirley at 260-0497 or Debbie 261-3839 for information.
Family hospital makes artist call
Family Health West, through the Fruita Arts and Culture Board, is looking for artists to submit for exhibit at Colorado Canyons Hospital and Medical Center.
Family Health West will display two artists per year and pieces will be placed in six month increments. The goal of exhibits and art displays in the hospital is to create a positive healing environment for patients, staff and public.
Proposal submission deadline is 4 p.m. Monday, Sept. 26. Artwork may be submitted as images on a CD, thumb drive, portfolio (physical binder or folder with photographs of artwork) or website. Submissions may be made to the city of Fruita Parks and Recreation Department, 324 N. Coulson St.

Corn maze, pumpkin patch opens
The corn maze and pumpkin patch, now open at DeVries Produce north of Montrose, will offer night mazes beginning in October.
The corn maze has a Denver Broncos theme and is off of U.S. Highway 50, between mile markers 85 and 86.
The 14th annual Punkin’ Chunkin’ event hosted by Olathe Volunteer Fire Department is planned for Oct. 29 at DeVries Produce.
