Art showcasing valley wanted for convention center

Call for artists: The city of Grand Junction Commission on Arts and Culture is inviting local artists to submit two-dimensional artwork that represents the best of the Grand Valley. The pieces will be on display at Two Rivers Convention Center from July through December. Pieces can be for sale. Please submit a letter of interest and a jpeg of your work to .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address). Deadline is July 1. Details are at http://www.gjarts.org.

After July 1, the commission will continue to accept submissions to create an ongoing list of artists for the next exhibit. The commission also is accepting submissions for Tiara Rado Golf Course with a theme of golf.

Blues Traveler tix on sale at City Market, Back Porch

Blues Traveler will play a special show at 7:30 p.m. July 8 at Grande River Vineyards in Palisade.

Tickets are $35 and go on sale 10 a.m. Friday, June 10, at City Market stores and Back Porch Music, and will be available by phone through TicketsWest at 243-TIXS.

No chairs, blankets, pets, coolers or outside food and beverage will be allowed into the venue. However, a cash bar and food will be for sale.

Blues Traveler is most famous for hits such as “Run-Around,” “Hook” and “The Mountains Win Again.”

Fruita art supporters invited to board planning meeting

The city of Fruita’s Arts and Culture Board is inviting anyone who is interested in local arts to an open house from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday, June 13, at the Fruita Community Center Peach Room.

Board members will be on hand to discuss the role of the Arts and Culture Board and to accept feedback from the community on what the purpose of the board should be in the future.
