Fair Games: Enjoy these games during the Mesa County Fair

From educational demonstrations to entertaining eating competitions, the Mesa County Fair offers something for all ages.

There are numerous animal shows, featuring the hard work of area 4-H and FFA youth, as well as traveling acts such as the Paul Bunyan’s Lumber Jack Show and ventriloquist Jerry Breeden.

A schedule for the fair, which runs Tuesday, July 15-19, is inserted into this issue of Out & About, but the schedule also can be seen at mesacountyfair.com.

Most admission tickets, as well as tickets to specialty events such as bull riding on Thursday, July 17, or the inaugural wine tasting event on July 18, can be purchased through Monday, July 14, at a discount on the fair’s website or at Sutherlands Lumber, 2405 F Road.

Look through the schedule, highlight your must-see events and plan to attend this year’s fair — the theme is “So much fun you’ll have a cow” — at the Mesa County Fairgrounds, 2785 U.S. Highway 50.

Added bonus: we made up these fun fair games to bring as you walk around the fair, trying to stay cool while checking out the amusement rides, food options, exhibitions, demonstrations, live music and Grandstand events.

Once you get a BINGO, complete the scavenger hunt or finish the Mad Lib, reward yourself with a funnel cake or lemonade.
