Family-oriented contra dance at Palisade Community Hall

Enjoy live Celtic music along with some family time this weekend while learning how to contra dance.

And don’t worry about whether you can dance. You’ll receive instructions every step of the way through old English country dances, aka contra dances.

A family contra dance, with simple and fun dances for anyone age 5 and older, will be from 5:30–7 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, at the Community Hall in Palisade. Tom Davis will teach the dances.

Admission is $12 for a family, $5 for adults and $3 for kids. Lemonade will be served.

A regular contra dance for adults and older children (age 10 and up) will be from 7:30–10:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, at the Community Hall in Palisade. A 30-minute “walk through,” during which basic terms and moves will be taught, will begin at 7 p.m.

Ron Young will be the caller for this dance.

Admission will be $8 for adults and $4 for ages 10–17. Dress for the dances is casual. Singles are welcome.
