First Friday event focuses on kids
With a focus on inspiring children, January’s First Friday Art reception at The Art Center will feature a root beer bar and fun activities for kids of all ages.
The Children’s New Year Celebration will be from 6:30–8:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 3, at The Art Center, 1803 N. Seventh St., offering a busy evening of painting, building, cutting and pasting. Kids of all ages can make their own New Year’s hats, tour the art made at The Art Center’s Holiday Art Camp and paint and dance.
Adult artists will offer demonstrations of throwing on the clay wheel, action painting, puppet show and more.
A silent auction featuring family packages will take place from 6:30–8 p.m. with proceeds going to the children’s programming at The Art Center.
Those attending also can view these continuing Art Center exhibits: “Elemental — Form, Fire, Clay Paint,” on display through Jan. 28; “House Works,” on display through Jan. 29; and “Rainbow Journey,” on display through Jan. 25.
