Fruita braces for invasion of bikers
The wheels keep on turning in the desert and you’re invited to come out and play.
Now in its 16th year, The New Belgium Brewing Fruita Fat Tire Festival offers a plethora of mountain biking fun Thursday through Sunday, April 28–May 1, in Fruita.
Registration will be open from 3–6 p.m. Thursday at the Civic Center in downtown Fruita. A VIP party starts at 6 p.m. with food, New Belgium Beer and more while it lasts. Late registration is available at the VIP party. Cost for the party is free with a VIP pass or a $20 at the door charge until 9 p.m.
The expo will open Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. with vendors, demos and rides. Registration is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The beer tent opens Friday afternoon and the party on the Civic Center lawn will go from 6–10 p.m. with live music, prizes and a bottle walk contest.
On Saturday, eat a good breakfast before headed out on a ride. A free pancake breakfast will begin at 8 a.m.
Registration is 10 a.m. to noon Saturday with the expo and bike demos from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The Clunker Crit, a crazy bike race featuring riders in costume pedaling decorated or unique bikes, takes off at 2 p.m.
After getting your fill of biking, join the Saturday Night Festival Party enjoy live music from 6–10 p.m. a the Civic Center Lawn with the beer garden open until 10 p.m. An after party will go from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. at The End Zone, 152 S. Mesa.
Get in one last ride Sunday, then join the finale coffee social from 3–5 p.m. at Over the Edge Sports.
